Student Horizons was proud to attend the ICGS (International Coalition of Girls Schools) Regional Symposium in Auckland last week, continuing our commitment to supporting girls’ schools with meaningful, safe and well-designed overseas travel experiences.
Representing Student Horizons, Jared Daunt, Head of Tours, contributed to the Symposium through both the opening session and a practical workshop focused on safer school trips.
In his opening address, Jared spoke about the powerful role travel can play in a student’s education. For girls’ schools in particular, international travel offers opportunities to build confidence, independence, cultural understanding and leadership, while creating shared experiences that can have a lasting impact well beyond the tour itself.
Jared also led a workshop on safer school trips, exploring the importance of thoughtful planning, clear communication, strong supplier relationships and robust risk-management practices. The session considered how schools and travel partners can work together to create overseas programs that are not only inspiring, but also operationally sound and appropriate for the needs of students, staff and families.
The ICGS Regional Symposium brought together educators and school leaders around a shared focus on collaboration, connection and the future of girls’ education. These conversations closely reflect Student Horizons’ own approach: working alongside schools to develop travel programs that support their educational priorities, pastoral responsibilities and wider school community.
