ASPIRE, the international youth music festival, will be enjoying its second year of bringing music into the hearts and minds of youth from all around the world this July. From its inception, ASPIRE’s singular aim has been to provide opportunities and raise up talented young musicians with the best tutorship, adjudication and competition available. Founded by education travel company Student Horizons, ASPIRE is a dedicated not-for-profit event, and any profits made through the festival will be donated to The Foundation of Student Horizons.
The Foundation of Student Horizons is a registered charity with deductible gift status (DGR), established by Student Horizons to offer disadvantaged youth the opportunity to explore the world. It is our deeply held belief in the importance and pivotal influence that travel can have that is behind all we do at Student Horizons, and the reason Founding Director Jamie Wansey began first the company, then the Foundation.
Through our years of working and touring with secondary schools, it became clear that many young people were unable to access educational travel opportunities due to financial hardship. Student Horizons strongly feels that learning through experience and from the world we live in is an essential step in personal development, which is why it is so important to us that educational tours are achievable for all students. The Foundation of Student Horizons was created to bridge that gap and afford disadvantaged youth the chance to travel and make life-changing memories.
Through entering ensembles in the ASPIRE International Youth Music Festival, teachers are not only giving music students a head start towards following their dreams, but they are helping offer that same opportunity to disadvantaged youth in our community. ASPIRE is most certainly an unforgettable experience, and thanks to every participant, more experiences for life are made possible for underprivileged students.
