At Student Horizons, nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of every student, teacher, and staff member who travels with us. That’s why we are proud to announce a global safety partnership with Crisis24, the world leader in risk management and security intelligence.
Through our partnership with Crisis24, Student Horizons tour groups benefit from always-on, global threat monitoring and instant alerts. Crisis24’s team of 180+ dedicated analysts and multiple global operations centers support us around the clock, monitoring everything from natural disasters and political unrest to health risks—no matter where in the world your itinerary takes you.
If an emergency ever arises, Student Horizons tour leaders have direct access to Crisis24’s global response team. This means we can escalate incidents fast, coordinate evacuations, arrange medical assistance, and keep families and schools fully informed—so your group is never alone and always supported by world-class experts.
All Student Horizons teams and group leaders use the Crisis24 app, enabling two-way communication and instant notifications throughout your tour. Plus, you benefit from regular destination risk briefings and up-to-date guidance before you even depart.
Safety Strengthened Through Trusted Advisors
In addition to our work with Crisis24, Student Horizons maintains a long-standing partnership with Cornerstone Safety Group. Cornerstone provides our staff with expert risk management training and ongoing crisis response auditing, ensuring our company standards, emergency procedures, and staff preparedness are always at the leading edge.
By combining the technology and global reach of Crisis24 with the risk management expertise of Cornerstone, Student Horizons now delivers what we believe is the industry’s most comprehensive safety framework for educational travel. Parents, teachers, and students can travel confidently, knowing every aspect of their journey is protected by world-class systems and people.
Student Horizons is a Certified Student Travel Organization (CSTO) from the Center for Student Travel Safety, an affiliate of the Student and Youth Travel Association (SYTA), a Voice of Student Travel.
The CSTO certification is awarded to companies who have met or exceeded the minimum of 25 safety standards established by the Center and SYTA. SYTA is a global educational travel association equipped to educate student travel providers about all aspects of student travel, with an emphasis on student travel safety and personal and educational enrichment. The standards are derived from the most effective practices in the industry and are based upon SYTA’s Code of Ethics and reviewed by an objective commission of industry experts.
Student Horizons is proud to be partnered with the Cornerstone Safety Group. Cornerstone provides advice, guidance and support to the leadership and operations team at Student Horizons, across essential health, safety and risk management areas.
With expertise in all three fields, the Student Horizons team benefits from resources, mentorship and training.
Combine international travel with the desire to satisfy students’ adventurous spirit and there will always be an element of risk. With this in mind we cannot guarantee that incidents will not occur. However, we can promise to do everything possible to control risk and, in the event of an incident, manage things effectively.
We engage the use of the government travel website, Safe Travel, and make certain that all potential risks are outlined and travellers give informed consent to be exposed to any such risks. We also outline our expectation that travellers maintain their own safety by taking sensible precautions themselves and always acting in a responsible manner.
Student Horizons has risk assessment procedures in place with all suppliers we work with. All of the services provided by our international ground handlers have undergone extensive risk assessment evaluations and these services are consistently monitored.
For every trip Student Horizons ensures:
When you are overseas on your sports, educational or music tour, you will have the reassurance that our team in Australia and New Zealand can be contacted 24 hours a day to assist you if required.
Although our groups are not obliged to go with the policy we present, adequate and valid travel insurance is compulsory for all group bookings with Student Horizons and it is a condition of us accepting a booking that the group has obtained adequate and valid travel insurance for their tour.
Student Horizons Insurance partners with Lockton, GO Insurance and Southern Cross Travel Insurance. All our groups are offered a comprehensive insurance policy for their overseas experience.
Student Horizons pays particular attention to the Australian and New Zealand Government travel advice. We continually monitor changes in their advice for travel to destinations that we organise student travel to.
We do this through their travel advice websites. We also monitor a number of other country advice websites including the UK’s foreign travel website.
Monitoring this advice is part of our Safety Management System.
Before you travel we also advise that you do your own research and keep a track on government advice on the country you are traveling to:
Student Horizons offers teachers to risk assess a destination first hand, this is an investment on both our part and our ground handlers part. We understand that for some destinations and in particular those that are more far flung it is the ideal way to gain first hand knowledge of what a destination can offer your students.
